Charlie's Christmas Message

Charlie’s Christmas

Baubles of life

Twinkle and sparkle

Dangling from the tree

What can you see

Way up high

Bright in the sky

The warmth from the sun

A new day has begun

Down below

In between my toes

The soft grass of home

Im not alone

Angels adorn top

Floating high

A child’s delight

Not a tantrum in sight

Come inside

Let it flow

Feel welcome with pride

Join the tide

Baubles for life

Glitter and sparkle

You are my friend

Until the end.

Message

]

Love you.

Here’s to 2011... bring it on.

xx Charlie

Christina Aguilera-Have yourself a merry little Christmas

Red, White and Sparkles, sponsorship opportunity

DeadReds has been giving members unique wine experiences for three years and we’d like to continue giving just because we can.

With over 450 members worldwide and each quarterly Adelaide event boasting over 60 members in attendance (including from interstate), we believe we have found a winning formula and thank those who have supported us during our journey.  Yet we are not content to sit back and rest on our wine corks, so for our next adventure we will be hosting a black tie (red frock) dinner on the 11th November 2011. We would like to request the pleasure of your company at what we hope will be a prestigious event.

We will again be raising money for our charity of choice, The Heart Foundation, and we hope that we will be able to persuade you and your winery to again be a part of what can only be described as a unique DeadRed WineGroup experience.  As the night is to be held on Remembrance Day we certainly won’t be overlooking a contribution to those we honour. Lest we forget.

The night will be full of glamour, entertainment, good wine, great food and stimulating conversation with our sponsors, supporters, people you know, and those you have yet to meet. There will be auctions and special prizes for all. This event will be like no other as you are joined by representatives of other wine regions, wine makers, and wine industry folks. You will also be joined by members of the DeadRed WineGroup, no doubt with some of our Interstate members making the trip for this first-off gala event.

This is your opportunity to continue your DeadReds journey. We will ensure your winery/business is promoted in the lead up, during the night and afterwards to our worldwide membership via Facebook, Blog, LinkedIn, Twitter, et al. We offer you the opportunity to discuss with us winery specific packages that we can on sell as part of the night, with part proceeds going into the charity. And that’s just for starters...

The rest is negotiable.

We look forward to discussing opportunities with you.

Basic event details:

Venue: Stonyfell Winery

MC: Xavier Minicon

Auctioneer: AJ Coleman

Encyclopedia of Developing Regional Communities with Information and Communication Technology

I was invited to write a paper for the Encyclopedia of Developing Regional Communities with Information and Communication Technology - which I did and it was published. I presented it at the time in QLD. Blast from the past. Just included it in a CV for BMD Constructions. Feels like ages ago - however it is still so relevant.

Online communities can have useful international dimensions because of the very nature of the World Wide Web’s networking capabilities. However, while developing our South Australian community services and practice requirements, we have found a definite tendency in people that they “like and stay with their own kind.” Much of the literature examining the uptake of ICT in community has found that local content is a vital issue. Why? It has been widely demonstrated that local Web sites developed locally provide ownership where an international or national Web site often fails. Another key success factor in the local use of Web sites (in fact, any Web site) has been found to align with whether the development was born from “a need” within the community, i.e., the community has the need and requirements and then provides input, takes ownership of output, etc.

[New post] Wine Politics: What wine will Australia be drinking over the next three years?

More fun than you can poke a stick at… hope you enjoy the blog about wine instead of straight politics for a change J

Read the full blog and let me know if you agree with our wine selections against your favourite (or not so) PM

Wine Politics: What wine will Australia be drinking over the next three years?

The Australian public will go to the polling booth on Saturday to find out who will be the next Prime Minster of Australia. Now I have got to say that I have had enough of the adverts and the politics these last 5 weeks, and so I thought: what might be a better and entertaining way to think about our federal politicians? What about if we thought about our politicians as a bottle of wine? If you think about it there is some potential merit in this idea. I have bought wines before that I thought had so much great potential, and were saved for a good day in the future....but when it was opened, you realise that the bottle has been oxidised. Bugger.  Or the wine turned out to be not as good as you were hoping. Well I think politics are a bit the same.

So to make things interesting this Saturday, I would like people to think about the wine they might think best approximates the characteristics of a specific politician. Now obviously we don’t all agree on our politics otherwise our governments would get in with 100% of the vote, but if you think about it, we also can’t all agree on which wines we like and don’t like. So let’s have a bit of fun and see if we can match up some Politicians to some wines.

Rachel - who is simply a delightful girl - and her partner Peter - a true gentleman. wonderful people. could rave for hours but you'll get bored. we are at the #saelection campaign launch - Rachel is running for the seat of Adelaide.

i will say this ->> there is one thing about me, if you have my friendship, you have my loyalty. 100% backing. will do everything within my power to support and help. i wish Rachel the very best of everything over the coming couple of weeks. i know she has worked very hard.

as i expect every single politician is the world has and does... they work tirelessly, they are passionate about what they stand for (whether you agree with it or not) and they are people who should be admired and respected. they should be trusted to their core. i know years ago i have voted labour - probably up until just before i moved to sydney - but since ive been home i havent been able to. i just dont get the trust factor shining for me. is it just me? it hasnt felt so lately.

now, we all joke about politicians and how they are all baddies and cant be trusted (as much as we joke about lawyers being sharks and accountants being boring in fact). and yet i find politicians like Nick X seem to have been able to keep their integrity, their strength and their conviction to always do the right thing.

hmmmm funny about that. it must be possible right?

so, i'm hoping that maybe, just maybe, we might get a vote outcome that shows and demonstrates to the winning party that the public of South Australia want a government that is respectful, dignified, trustworthy.

it may not be the party that i want to win at the end of the day. true. but i do hope we send at least THAT message. and that will win it for me. i will continue to sleep at nite.

thank you for listening. xc

so with my day job, i ended up in port augusta with the australian string quartet putting on a show for music students, their parents, teachers and various other industry reps. im here with alison (left, CEO of the ASQ) and sophie (middle, 1st violin) after what could only be described as a very successful night.

BIG SMILES xc

ps big thanks to greg curnow, music teacher from the area and the combo of ken/kylie from country arts plus all the venue organisers and volunteers. what a legendary crowd xx

19/02/2010:: twitter365

its fringe silly season and this was parade night. we had all sorts of plans and people to meet up with and some of it happened and then went away and some of it didnt and some of it bumped into us on the night and we ended up that way... yep, we were all over the place. as far as getting something to eat or drink goes, well, that was even crazier.

next year, we will plan. well. xc

busy day but i took a break. dont do it often. i was between offices and 20 mins early for a meeting. i read the paper. have to confess its a very long time since i sat down and read a printed version of a paper. it was interesting. different. not bad.

i get media monitor emails, google reader, google alerts, blogs RSS feeds, email newsletter, friends posts, twitter, friend feed, you name it every day. i am spammed. but i love it. the more i get - the more i love.

what i found with reading the paper, was i picked up trivial crap. some of it was amusing. some of it might have been tiring over time.

do you like trivial crap? is that what the paper is for? love to know xc
